SITUATION


An active trough continues to lie over the vicinity of the Niuas, Vav
a'u and
extends over to Ha'apai. Associated with cloudy conditions, occasiona
l rain,
risk of isolated thunderstorms affect these areas today. Meanwhile, f
resh to
strong winds continue to prevail across most part of Tonga.



FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA


FOR THE NIUAS:
Moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong at times. Beco
me west to
southwesterly this afternoon.
Cloudy at times with occasional rain, possibly heavy at times with is
olated
thunderstorms.

FOR VAVA'U:
Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds, strong at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast at times with developing occasional rain, 
heavy at
times with isolated thunderstorms. Possible flooding in low lying are
as due to
heavy rain.

FOR HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Light to moderate east to northeasterly, fresh at times. Become light
 and
variable tonight.
Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, can be heavy at times with pote
ntial of
thunderstorms for Ha'apai.

swell (up to 3 metres). Possible flooding in low lying coastal areas 
due to
extreme high tide. Poor visibilities due to heavy rain.

FOR VAVA'U COASTAL WATERS
East to southeast wind 15-25 knots, gusting up to gale force winds 35
