WARNING IN EFFECT: HEAT ADVISORY: A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the entire Bahamas as well as the Turks and Caicos Islands. Residents and visitors across all areas, especially in the Northern and Northwest Bahamas, should continue to remain hydrated, seek shaded areas and restrict strenuous outdoor activity between peak hours (between 11 am – 4pm). GENERAL SITUATION: A surface trough across the Northern Bahamas continue to produce showers and thunderstorms across the area, meanwhile an approaching tropical wave is generating unsettled weather across the Southern Islands. High pressure is maintaining stable conditions across the remainder of the country although a few showers or short lived thunderstorms could appear while Saharan Dust lay over the archipelago. OUTLOOK: Hot and humid conditions will continue across the country this week, hazy at times as the plume of dust moves in and out of the area. Another tropical wave will drift westward across the southern Islands in the middle of the week, while troughing in the vicinity of the northern islands, introduce moisture into these islands, producing unsettled weather through Thursday. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: RIP CURRENTS: There is a slight to moderate risk of rip currents affecting the eastern and southern shorelines of the Southeast Bahamas. Beachgoers and swimmers are advised to exercise caution when entering the water. UV INDEX: Members of the public are advised to wear protective clothing and sunscreen and seek shaded areas while outside during peak sunshine hours (11am – 4pm), as UV indices are expected to be in the high to extreme range. SAHARAN DUST: The level of dust may reach moderate levels which could impact air quality and hinder visibility at times across the Northern and Southeast Bahamas. Residents, especially those with respiratory illnesses, should take precautions to safeguard their health. An area of low pressure could form along the low and has a 50 percent chance of deepening into a tropical depression during the middle to latter part of the week.
