FPBA31 MYNN 181515 181515 MYNNYM BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12:00 P.M. EDT, MONDAY, MAY 18, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT. WARNING IN EFFECT: There are no public warnings in effect at this time. For marine warnings and information, please see our marine forecast at met.gov.bs GENERAL SITUATION: A mid- to upper-level disturbance will continue to generate unsettled weather conditions across much of the country, supporting scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. A slightly drier air mass across the Northern Bahamas will allow for comparatively sunnier periods accompanied by occasional fast-moving showers with isolated thunderstorm activity. Meanwhile, moderate to locally fresh easterly winds will persist across the archipelago as surface high pressure remains anchored well to the northeast. OUTLOOK: The mid to upper level disturbance will meander near The Bahamas for the work week. This feature is expected to continue streaming moisture over the country resulting in bouts of showers, possible thunderstorm activity over portions of the islands. Localized flood in low lying and flood prone areas is possible. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Rip Currents: There remains a moderate risk of rip currents for Atlantic waters across all areas. Beachgoers and swimmers are urged to continue to exercise caution. Flooding Risk: There is a moderate risk of flooding in low lying and flood prone areas during heavy or prolonged rainfall periods, particularly across portions of the Northwest, Central & Southeast Bahamas. Tidal Coastal Flooding: Due to the Super New Moon, there is a marginal risk of tidal flooding along shorelines during the evening high tide hours persisting into Tuesday.
