Critical Fire Weather conditions will continue into this evening across the southernmost counties of the southeast plains before the cold front along the Arkansas River races back southward to the southern CO border by 7 PM. This should shift winds from strong southwesterly component to a strong northerly component and bring higher humidities into the Red Flag Warning area. Tuesday will be cooler with higher humidity and lighter winds. Showers and embedded thunderstorms will develop over the southeast mountains and spread into the adjacent plains during the evening bringing some spotty wetting rains to portions of the area in and near the mountains. Wednesday and Thursday looks similar with rounds of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings. These will have a better chance of affecting more of the southeast plains bringing spotty wetting rains. A warming and drying trend returns for late week into the weekend though most days retain at least a slight chance for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
