Residual snow showers will continue across the Central mountains and Pikes Peak region this morning, as strong north winds spread across the southeast plains today with gusts up to 50 mph. Temperatures will remain cool which will keep humidities above critical thresholds and no critical fire weather conditions are expected. Clear skies and drier air will spread across southern Colorado tonight. This will allow for subfreezing temperatures north of highway 50, with a frost or light freeze possible along and south of highway 50. Even colder temperatures are expected for Friday Night through Saturday morning with the potential for a hard freeze sufficient to end the growing season. Temperatures will rebound over the weekend, and return to above normal by early next week as southwest flow increases ahead of the next storm system. A few showers will be possible over the mountains at times, but any precipitation will remain spotty and light during the Sunday and Monday timeframe. Afternoon dispersions will rebound into the fair to good category across the mountains today, and into the very good category across the plains. Strong surface based inversions will set up tonight with dispersions dropping into the poor category.
