FXUS63 KPAH 240719 AFDPAH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Paducah KY 219 AM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - The week will begin on a dry note with clear to partly cloudy skies, as high pressure continues to remain overhead. - The next chances for showers and thunderstorms across the entire region is forecast Wednesday into Wednesday night. - Temperatures will continue to climb through the week eventually reaching the low 90s by this weekend as southerly winds return, along with increasing humidity levels beginning Wednesday. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 216 AM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026 The region continues to sit between the upper level ridge over the southwest CONUS and the trough over the NE CONUS with surface high pressure overhead. Recent model guidance has shifted the upper level ridge west, and as a result, shifted the shortwaves and small chance for showers expected today and Tuesday west of SEMO. Therefore, dry conditions are forecast with clear to partly cloudy skies across the region Monday and Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 80s. Wednesday into Thursday morning, small chances (20-30%) for showers and thunderstorms exist across the entire region as another trough and associated cold front is expected to move through. However, forecast confidence in these showers are low due to the lack of agreement across mid and long range models. Beginning Wednesday with this system, higher dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s will return resulting in higher humidity. High temperatures will continue climb as the week progresses. Current guidance suggests that by the weekend we could see highs back into the low 90s, as southerly winds return. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z TUESDAY/... Issued at 1135 PM CDT Sun Aug 23 2026 Looking at crossover temperature potential, MVN looks to have the greatest chance of reaching their crossover temp tonight and seeing fog formation (and based on how they saw fog last night). PAH may see some patchy fog as well but possibly not as great of a drop in vsby as MVN. High clouds streaming over the southwest portions of the area will likely inhibit fog formation at CGI tonight. EVV and OWB mixed fairly deep today and their crossover temps are more out of reach even with clear skies and calm winds. High clouds resume tomorrow across the area with light winds shifting to the northeast by sunset. && .PAH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... IL...None. MO...None. IN...None.
