Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 3.52 miles Path Width /maximum/: 125 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 10/11/2026 Start Time: 02:48 PM EDT Start Location: 3 NNE Pleasant Hill / Jones County / NC Start Lat/Lon: 35.1018 / -77.5592 End Date: 10/11/2026 End Time: 02:56 PM EDT End Location: 5 S Wise Forks / Jones County / NC End Lat/Lon: 35.14 / -77.5182 Survey Summary: The majority of the damage was confined to three homes along Middle Road, just west of the intersection with Old Kinston Trenton Road. At this location multiple pine trees were snapped at the base, along with multiple power poles that were leaning. A large branch pierced the siding of one home. This damage was consistent with estimated winds of around 100 MPH. The expected value of snapped softwoods and and bent power poles is between 104 and 108 MPH but we lowered these values slightly because all three homes in the general path received little to no damage. The pine trees were damaged in a convergent path. In addition on the home that had a branch pierce the south wall of the home, a clear leaf splatter pattern was found on the east side of the home. This leaf litter was blown to the left of the damage path, showing convergence. Across Middle Road, debris was scattered in an adjacent field before more snapped softwood trees could be found. It is likely here that the tornado lifted with no further damage found northeast of this location. **Note** Based on strong evidence of a debris signature prior to the damage along Middle Road, we extended the start of the tornado path back by about 3 miles through a heavily wooded area east of Burney Town Road. This area was not accessible to assess damage in person but radar evidence is clear that the tornado started before the damage found on Middle Road and this would create a more accurate account of what happened. A special thanks to Jones County Emergency Management for their help on the storm survey! && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Martin/Heden
