Santa Ana winds have peaked today, with gusts mostly in the 50 to 70 mph range across the LA/Ventura county mountains and foothills, while coastal and valley areas are gusting in the 35 to 55 mph range. For San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara county mountains and Cuyama Valley, east winds have gusted between 30 and 45 mph today. The offshore winds will gradually subside in strength and areal coverage later this afternoon into tonight. By Saturday, offshore winds are expected to be 10 to 15 mph weaker in most areas as computed to today, mainly due to less upper level wind support. Meanwhile, temperatures have climbed to between 90 and 100 degrees for many coastal and valley areas today, with slight cooling expected on Saturday for coastal areas. Minimum humidities will generally lower into the 8 to 20 percent range, with poor overnight recoveries. Cooler and more humid conditions are likely next week. Gusty southwest to northwest winds are expected Sunday and Monday, with light to moderate rain likely sometime Tuesday through Thursday.
