FXUS61 KILN 170542 AFDILN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wilmington OH 142 AM EDT Sat Oct 17 2026 .WHAT HAS CHANGED... Freeze Warning now in effect tonight into Sunday morning. && .KEY MESSAGES... 1) High pressure will build into the region through the weekend, bringing drier conditions and below normal temperatures. Widespread frost is likely Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures will slowly moderate into midweek while conditions remain dry. && .DISCUSSION... Key Message 1) A steady north-northeasterly wind is still noticeable this morning as the area remains in between the low pressure off the East Coast and the building high pressure over the central Plains. Low level moisture trapped within the cooler low-level flow supports a band of clouds from central Ohio into southern Ohio and northern Kentucky, developing through mid morning and remaining into the afternoon. Otherwise, mostly clear skies are forecast for eastern Indiana and western Ohio. Temperatures, which start in the 30s and 40s this morning, will only climb into the mid 50s, about 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Into the late afternoon and evening, clouds begin to clear with high pressure building in directly over the Ohio Valley. Calming winds and clear skies support quickly falling temperatures in the evening. Temperatures drop into the lower 30s over a large portion of the area. Upper 20s are likely in the more sheltered locations. A Freeze Warning is now in effect. Additional frost is possible Sunday night into Monday morning with lows in the mid 30s. Temperatures begin to moderate early next week as high temperatures climb back to seasonal normals on Monday. High pressure continues to dominate through the rest of the week, providing dry conditions and temperatures slightly above normal (generally in the lower 70s). && .AVIATION /06Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... The secondary cold front has pushed through all TAF sites, with steady northerly winds occurring, gusting between 20-25 knots. Breaks in the MVFR CIGs are advancing southward as drier air moves in from the north. CIGs will likely bounce around between VFR and MVFR through daybreak. After 14Z, the sun will provide enough heating to support a bit more coverage in the clouds, which may end up leading to periods of MVFR CIGs, primarily for CMH/LCK/ILN and perhaps CVG, through the afternoon. Eventually, clouds will clear and any north- northeasterly winds will calm as high pressure moves in. An extended period of light winds and VFR conditions follows through the rest of the weekend and all of next week. OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected. && .ILN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
