.DISCUSSION...

Despite breezy conditions, recent widespread rainfall and cooler
temperatures limit any widespread fire concerns today. Some
isolated to scattered showers are possible later today and into
tonight for areas west of the James River - scant precipitation
amounts expected. Cooler and occasionally weather prevails into 
the weekend, with more widespread rainfall chances Thursday
afternoon/evening through Friday night. Low to moderate (less than
40%) chances for rainfall amounts to exceed half an inch. Warmer
conditions return late this weekend.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the moderate 
category this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or 
lowering moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic 
material on the ground, indicate that there is some potential 
for a fire to spread. Any outdoor burning should be closely 
monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the moderate category. 

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category 
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture 
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the 
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is 
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be 
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.
