FNUS63 KFSD 162110 RFDFSD Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD 410 PM CDT Fri Oct 16 2026 .DISCUSSION... Northerly winds will continue to diminish from west to east through the remainder of the afternoon, with winds turning light and variable this evening. Winds will pick up again heading into the day on Saturday, this time out of the southeast. Winds will gust between 25 and 35 mph for the most part, though a few spots along the Buffalo Ridge could get up to 40 mph. Drier air will be in place during the day Saturday, leading to relative humidity values dropping to around 30-35% west of the James River and over southwest Minnesota. Locally lower values down to 25% will be possible over portions of Gregory County. This could result in locally elevated fire weather concerns especially in cured grasses and croplands. Winds will remain elevated Saturday night, though relative humidity recovers as usual with nightfall. Winds will diminish through the day on Sunday, with lighter winds expected into early next week limiting fire weather concerns.
