FXUS62 KFFC 151710 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 110 PM EDT Thu Oct 15 2026 ...New 18Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... - Dry conditions will prevail through the next 7 days with temperatures warming to well above normal today and tomorrow. - A strong cold front will bring noticeably cooler conditions and gusty winds this weekend. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Friday) Issued at 442 AM EDT Thu Oct 15 2026 One final day of summer expected again today and tomorrow before we get a significant change in air mass. Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s by early afternoon, with NW winds keeping humidity down. Temps will fall into the low 60s tonight before a nearly identical high temp is expected tomorrow. With high pressure settled over the area, winds continue to be on the light side at less than 5 mph. Some patchy fog this morning is expected to burn off by 10am. && .LONG TERM... (Friday night through Wednesday) Issued at 442 AM EDT Thu Oct 15 2026 Things will finally feel much more Fall-like to open the long term forecast period Friday night into Saturday morning as a sharp cold front will rapidly progress across the CWA. Gusty NW winds (likely gusts near/over 30 mph at times) will transition toward the north and northeast on Saturday as surface high pressure slips across the Mid-Atlantic. This frontal passage continues to look very dry with any isolated sprinkles/brief showers largely relegated to north Georgia, though these will be very limited in nature. By Saturday morning, temperatures will have fallen into the 40s across a good bit of north Georgia, a drop of nearly 40 degrees in some areas from Friday highs. Expect below-normal temperatures to persist through the weekend with highs mainly in the 60s each day and lows in the 40s for most (some 30s in the mountains) through Monday. A warming trend will then be underway by next week as midlevel ridging builds eastward with temperatures near to slightly above normal by midweek. Still, no notable rain chances are in the foreseeable future as surface high pressure will continue to build southwestward from New England through the week. && .AVIATION...
