(Today through Sunday) Issued at 126 AM CDT Sat Oct 17 2026 While winds ease in the west, breezy conditions continue over the rest of the area through the overnight hours into this morning. Northerly wind will generally remain around 10-20 mph with gusts from 25-35 mph through this period, with speeds then decreasing throughout the afternoon. A crisp morning with lows in the 40s to around 50 degrees is expected with a cool afternoon with highs in the 60s or low 70s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. The coldest temperatures of the period are forecast tonight into Sunday morning as good radiational cooling and light wind brings lows in the upper 30s and low 40s over the Hill Country, into the mid and upper 40s elsewhere. Light wind and mild highs are forecast for Sunday peaking in the upper 60s or 70s during the afternoon. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday night through Friday) Issued at 126 AM CDT Sat Oct 17 2026 Broad ridging over South Central Texas early next week becomes more amplified heading into the late week period. This pattern brings a day by day warming trend to the area through mid-week with temperatures at or above average by Wednesday. Lows from the 40s and 50s Monday morning rise into the 60s across the area by Friday. For highs, Monday remains mild in the 70s to around 80 degrees, then rises into the 80s across the entire area by Thursday. A trough moves over the western US in the late week period but the elongated upper ridge may limit impacts for our area associated with this feature. For now, the forecast remains dry. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 126 AM CDT Sat Oct 17 2026 VFR conditions are expected at area TAF sites through the current forecast period. We will keep wind gusts in the forecast for the I-35 sites through the early morning hours. However, gusts may be more intermittent than continuous. Wind gusts are expected to end by late morning as high clouds continue to move in from the west. A weaker pressure gradient out west at DRT will result in lighter winds through the period. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
