A cold front passage brings drier, cooler and windy conditions today. Any lingering precipitation this morning will end by the afternoon with dry weather then persisting into next week. Strong northerly wind will usher in dry air with minimum humidity today falling into the 20 to 35 percent range. This combination of humidity and wind will bring elevated to near critical fire weather conditions across South Central Texas this afternoon. A Rangeland Fire Danger Statement is in effect for the I-35 Corridor and Coastal Plains this afternoon through the evening hours. Wind eases slightly tonight into Saturday but remains gusty before wind speeds decrease Saturday afternoon. Humidity levels in the 20 to 35 percent range continue through Monday so elevated fire weather could persist into Saturday before winds decrease. A warming trend returns early next week with increasing humidity levels through Wednesday.
