Issued at 1111 PM CDT Sat Aug 22 2026 Early morning radar shows showers and thunderstorms located across Colorado. The activity should continue to propagate eastward through the overnight hours. This activity may reach across NW KS/WC KS and N KS by the early morning hours. This activity is not expected to be strong or severe. As such, have the highest pops across the northern zones during the morning hours. The CAMs show the potential for additional showers and thunderstorms developing across Colorado Sunday evening. This activity may reach far southwest Kansas during the late evening hours. Again, this activity is not expected to be strong or severe by the time it reaches into western Kansas. Otherwise, highs will continue to remain seasonably hot with values peaking in the 90s. Lows will be in a mix of 60s to 70s. The same weather patttern with diurnal showers and thunderstorms is expected by the models for Monday. Again, far western Kansas stands to see the highest pops, as is this area is in closer proximity to the diurnally developing convection across the high plains. Long range models and their ensemble counterparts shows the mid level ridge sinking southward across the southern Rockies by Tuesday and Wednesday. Diurnally induced storms may ride the edge of this ridge and may propagate once again into western Kansas. Tuesday stands with the highest pops and large areal coverage of storms during the evening hours. A similar weather pattern is forecast by the models Wednesday and possibly Thursday.
