Based on current satellite and surface observation trends, variable to light southwest winds are expected to continue through mid- afternoon as a frontal boundary remains nearly stationary from the Texas Panhandle northeastward into south central Kansas, including in vicinity of Clark County. The boundary is expected to begin lifting slightly northward late afternoon, allowing light south- southwest winds to gradually increase somewhat through early evening. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along and ahead of said boundary late this afternoon, then move east-northeast through early/mid- evening. A few of these storms may become severe with large hail and damaging winds the main threat. The potential for a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. A cold front is projected to push southward through western/central Kansas early this evening, turning winds northerly 20 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 40 to 45 mph generally after 7-8 PM CDT. Winds are then expected to gradually subside later overnight into early Tuesday morning. .REST OF TODAY... Sky/weather.........Mostly sunny (25-35 percent).
