A surface warm front over the Alleghenies of Western PA early this morning will drift northeast across Central and Eastern PA through the mid morning hours. This weather feature will bring a few periods of moderate to briefly heavy rain showers before a several hour lull in the rainfall occurs for the late morning and early afternoon hours. A cold front will push quickly southeast across the region this afternoon, reaching Southeastern PA very early this evening. A line of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will occur along the cold front with localized damaging wind gusts from the west being the main severe weather threat. Gusty northwest winds up to 40 mph and sharply falling temperatures will occur late today and tonight with lake effect rain showers possibly mixing with snow for a brief time over the higher elevations late tonight and early Saturday.
