Issued at 604 AM CDT Sat Aug 22 2026 - Heat Advisory may become necessary this afternoon. - Major risk of heat-related impacts continue into next week with peak afternoon heat indices around 110 - Daily elevated fire weather conditions over the Brush Country && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 123 AM CDT Sat Aug 22 2026 Hot and rain-free conditions will continue through the weekend as high pressure persists. Fortunately, moisture will be limited through the weekend, which will help limit some of our heat concerns. That being said, it will still be very hot. Heat index values will still range from 105 to nearly 110 through Monday. Moisture starts to slowly increase beginning Tuesday, which will increase heat index values once again. Precipitation chances will remain near zero through Monday, but we still can't rule out an isolated shower along the seabreeze. Chances will increase slightly, though still remain below 10% Tuesday through the latter part of next week as moisture increases. The hope on the horizon is that the ridge may shift just enough to allow a trough to sneak under the eastern edge which could serve to cool things down ever so slightly and could increase the chances of rain to nearly mentionable. This is still very questionable, but we can hope. Continue to practice heat safety: look before you lock, limit outdoor exposure, drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks.
