Gusts 35 to 50 mph expected. - Above average temperatures Friday and Saturday. && .DISCUSSION... Today through Wednesday... A cold front has moved through the region overnight, creating slightly cooler conditions for today. As higher pressures fill in, windy conditions are expected to persist through the day across eastern MT. There is still about a 60-80% chance for gusts to 50 mph along the MT/Dakotas border. Through Saturday, higher heights and ridging will move in, creating warm and dry conditions with high temperatures in the upper 60s and 70s. With a tighter gradient aloft and mild 700 mb winds, breezy conditions will be in place for areas south of Billings to the WY border including the Fort Smith area. The Livingston/Big Timber corridor will also be windy late Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. A dry backdoor front is expected to move through Saturday evening and overnight, cooling temperatures back to near average, in the upper 50s to low 60s. Conditions will remain mild Monday into Tuesday as westerly flow transitions southwesterly. Depending on the track of the low off the west coast middle of next week, the region could get into a pattern of daily afternoon showers and a few thunderstorms. Currently there are low chances for precipitation across south- central MT Tuesday into Wednesday. There is still uncertainty at this time, so watch the forecast to see how this system progresses.
