FNUS51 KBTV 191048 FWFBTV Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Northern Vermont and Northern New York National Weather Service Burlington VT 648 AM EDT Tue May 19 2026 .DISCUSSION... ...Unseasonably Warm Conditions Continue Today... ...Updated to Include Morning Thunderstorm Chances... A few thunderstorms and showers are possible with a trough moving through this morning, mainly across northern New York and northern Vermont. Unseasonably warm conditions continue today with high temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s to around 90 degrees. Dewpoints will also be on the rise with afternoon dewpoints possibly reaching the mid 60s. Minimum RH will only dip into the 40 to 50 percent range and not support fire weather concerns. We will see some south to southwest winds up to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 35 mph through the day with winds likely to continue into the overnight hours. Localized stronger gusts are possible around 40 mph at times today. A few strong to locally severe storms may bring localized stronger winds to a few locations but widespread severe weather is not anticipated at this time. A cold front will move through Wednesday morning and could bring a few more rain showers but the bigger impact will be winds shifting to the west/northwest and noticeably cooler temperatures.
