Extreme Fire Conditions Continue This Evening. RFTI's of 8 currently observed at several sites in the Amarillo area and should persist for at least a few more hours. Southwest winds 30 to 35 mph with gust 40 to 50 mph will likely continue through about 8 PM before coming down in the 15 to 25 mph range from 8 PM to 11 PM. Cold front is projected to be over the burn site around 11 PM to midnight, but fronts do tend to move a bit faster, and could be as early as 10 PM. Prior to the front you may get an hour of light winds 5 to 15 mph out of the southwest. Post frontal initial north wind surge is expected to be 20-30 mph, and gust 35 to 45 mph for the first hour or two, then winds should be 15 to 25 gusting to 35 mph overnight.
