.DISCUSSION...

A storm system moving into the area today will produce a 30 to 50 
percent chance of wetting rainfall. There is a slight risk (level 2 
out of 5) of severe storms this afternoon and overnight over central 
SD and a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) over the majority of 
northeast SD with golf ball size hail and wind gusts exceeding 60 
mph the main threats. Mostly dry conditions can be expected on 
Monday with additional storms possible Monday night.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there
is high potential for a fire to spread.  Outdoor burning should be
restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are
usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.


The outlook for Monday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

will reach the low category.
