Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico

.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather conditions from dry southwesterly winds remains
across western NM while higher moisture from easterly to
southeasterly winds remains over eastern NM today and Thursday. The
Rio Grande Valley will see intrusions of the higher moisture each
morning alongside gusty east canyon winds before drier southwesterly
winds mix any moisture back out in the afternoon. Any afternoon 
shower and thunderstorm activity today will favor the central
highlands and east-central NM southward with more tame shower
activity favored further north toward CO across eastern NM. Modest
drier westerlies advance to TX Friday, replaced by higher moisture
across eastern NM behind another cold front this weekend. Poor
recoveries persist across western NM before moisture can advance
there by Monday for at least a day. Daily rounds of isolated to
scattered afternoon thunderstorms will favor areas along and east of
the central mountain chain during this time.
