* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Northwestern City of Chesapeake in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Norfolk in southeastern Virginia...
  The City of Portsmouth in southeastern Virginia...
  The Northwestern City of Virginia Beach in southeastern Virginia...

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 703 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
  2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of
  1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Emergency Management
  has reported 1 to 2 feet of water on roadways across portions of
  the City of Norfolk, flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

  Virginia Beach, Downtown Norfolk, Norfolk State University,
  Downtown Portsmouth, Old Dominion University, Regent University,
  Virginia Wesleyan University, Churchland, Kempsville, Norfolk,
  Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Ghent, Norview, Cradock, Norfolk
  International, Western Branch, Bowers Hill and South Norfolk.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
