It will also be windy across the Dakotas today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop in eastern Montana this afternoon, spreading into western and central North Dakota through this evening. High temperatures will mostly remain in the 60s Thursday and Friday as western and southern parts of the region see high chances for showers and occasional thunderstorms. An isolated severe thunderstorm is possible in the southern part of the Commonwealth. The early season heat wave will break down today with high temperatures ranging from 60 degrees in Erie to 95 degrees in the Philadelphia metro area. Showers are likely to persist through late tonight across southern Pennsylvania near the Maryland border. Low temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees cooler than last night ranging from 40 degrees in the northwest Allegheny Mountains to the upper 50s in the Delaware Valley. Unseasonably cool and wet conditions are forecast heading into Memorial Day weekend with periods of soaking rain Friday through Saturday. The rainfall over an extended duration will be largely beneficial especially for the moderate to severe drought areas in the southern and southeastern portions of Pennsylvania. Occasional to scattered rain showers and gradually warmer temperatures are forecast Sunday and Monday followed by mainly dry weather Tuesday into next Wednesday. $$ MRS
