Heat index values in the 100 to near 110 degree range will remain common across parts of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas into early evening. The higher of these values are over southeast Oklahoma, along a nearly stalled surface boundary. Conditions will begin to improve after sunset. Overnight tonight, showers and thunderstorms remain forecast to develop across much of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, with the greater potentials along and north of Interstate 40. Instability lifting northeast and interacting with increasing winds aloft will help to create a limited severe risk across parts of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
