821 FZNT24 KNHC 202115 OFFNT4 Offshore Waters Forecast for the Gulf of America NWS National Hurricane Center Miami, FL 515 PM EDT Wed May 20 2026 Offshore Waters Forecast for the Gulf of America Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. GMZ001-210915- Synopsis for the Gulf of America 515 PM EDT Wed May 20 2026 .SYNOPSIS...High pressure extending from the western Atlantic to the northern Gulf will change little during the forecast period. The pressure gradient between it and relatively lower pressures over Texas and northern Mexico will generally maintain a gentle to moderate east to southeast wind flow across the basin through the weekend, with the exception of winds pulsing to fresh to strong speeds from the late afternoons and into the night time hours. A series of upper-level disturbances in a very moist and unstable environment is expected to keep unsettled weather conditions in the form of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms in the NW Gulf for the next few days. Mariners transiting through these waters are advised to be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions with this activity. $$ GMZ040-210915- NW Gulf of America including Stetson Bank- 515 PM EDT Wed May 20 2026 .TONIGHT...E to SE winds 10 kt. Southeast Gulf of America .SYNOPSIS...High pressure extending from the western Atlantic to the northern Gulf will change little during the forecast period. Mariners transiting through these waters are advised to be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions with this activity. .TONIGHT...E to SE winds 10 to 15 kt.
