Gusty N to NW winds look to be the main fire weather concern during the daytime today as gusts up to 25 mph could be seen at times this afternoon. However, thinking some lake effect cloud cover at the very least as well as advection of the marine layer inland will limit wildfire potential; some lake effect sprinkles could be seen throughout the morning to early afternoon hours as well, but don't expect much more than a trace to a hundredth of an inch of liquid as high pressure is moving in from the west. Expect the air to be fairly unstable in the lowest levels of the atmosphere, allowing for smoke to rise away from the sfc. However, as high pressure arrives tonight, the increase in nocturnal stability could lower any remaining smoke back down to the sfc, although there is some uncertainty on the mixing potentially continuing during the overnight hours; the best chances for smoke continuing to rise during the overnight hours will be on the hilltops and areas above the thermal layer. Very warm and relatively breezy day is expected across the air show vicinity. There is a risk of strong thunderstorms late in the afternoon as a front pushes through. A few thunderstorms could be severe with damaging winds up to 65 mph the primary threat, along with small hail, heavy rain and of course cloud to ground lightning. At this time, the best chance of storms tracking over the area is between 3 pm and 8 pm. Around 5-6 pm seems to be the peak threat period. RH readings may drop into the upper teens during the afternoon, and with the strong winds associated with the frontal passage and storms, we do have fire weather concerns.
